In June of 1606, King James travel with a group from England, also called Virginia Company. They were 104 people who travel to North America because they want to find gold, and seek a water route to the Orient. And they want to make a new colony. Jamestown is located on Jamestown Island in the Virginia Colony. And the colony was founded on May in 1607. Jamestown was a capital of colonies for 83 years.
Why they choose Jamestown? They was travel to Jamestown, it was a good position to defend against other Europeans forces which might approach by water. And it was another reason because it was not inhabited by the local Indians. They were scared about Virginia Indians. But they discovered fast that local were swampy isolated site was plagued by mosquitoes and the river water was unsuitable for drinking. And the place was not a good hunting and farming place.
